Flash floods have cut off the Azare-Ja’amare road along the Kano-Maiduguri Highway in Bauchi State, leaving motorists stranded and forcing them to seek alternative routes.
The incident, which has created a large crater in the middle of the road, is the latest in a series of devastating floods affecting the North-East geopolitical zone, particularly Bauchi State.
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed inspected the affected area and expressed concern over the situation.

He revealed that he had reported the crisis to the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, who had visited the site last week when the road was initially under threat due to heavy rains.
Governor Mohammed also warned that nearby communities are at risk of being submerged if the floodwaters are not properly managed.
“We must act swiftly to control the flow of water before it engulfs more areas and causes further destruction,” the governor stated during his inspection.
This incident comes just two weeks after a similar downpour severely damaged the federal highway connecting Kano to Maiduguri, particularly between Malori and Guskuri villages in the Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The recurring floods have left Bauchi reeling, with lives lost, thousands of houses destroyed, and critical infrastructure at risk.
Governor Mohammed has urged for immediate federal intervention to prevent further damage and protect lives and property in the region.
