FG On Track To Transform Power Sector –Adelabu

The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, yesterday stressed the Federal Government’s commitment to transforming the power sector. Adelabu gave the assurance during the 9th Nigeria Energy Forum (NEF 2024) conference in Lagos.

He said: “Over the past few years, we have significantly increased our installed generation capacity by bringing new power plants on line and rehabilitating existing ones.

“This has resulted in a substantial increase in the overall power supply to the national grid.” Adelabu, represented by the Director Renewables and Rural Development, Sunday Owolabi, sought the support of stakeholders, government agencies, private sector partners, international organisations and the people.

The Head of Client Relations, Anglo West Africa, AfreximBank, Peter Olowononi, said the bank is one of the biggest financial institutions, supporting energy and industrialisation in Nigeria. He said: “We are also financing a lot of the oil and gas companies who produce gas required to fire some of the generation companies in the country.

“We are at the forefront of lighting up Africa, industrialising Africa and ensuring that we are able to improve the economies of the African countries.”

The Chief Executive Officer of All On, Caroline Eboumbou, said the company’s mission is to accelerate the closing of access to the energy gap in Nigeria with a special focus on Niger Delta.

Norway’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Svein Baera, said: “We are supporting the deployment of solar and battery energy for supermarket chain Justrite in Nigeria, and delivering an energy for development programme, for mitigating gas flaring in oil and gas installations.”
