There are indications that the Federal Government may have concluded plans to assist the aviation industry with $58.7 million as part of stimulus package.
A source close to the Presidency told New Telegraph that the money was as a result of the outcome of meetings held in Abuja last month among airlines, various aviation agencies like the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB), Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET), aviation ground handling companies and other essential service providers.
The Director-General of NCAA, Capt. Musa Nuhu had, last month, told journalists at a webinar that Federal Government was at the verge of helping airlines through a fresh round of bailout to save hundreds of jobs that are threatened.
Other beneficiaries, according to him, are aviation agencies, ground handling firms and other aviation related bodies.
Meanwhile, Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika has disclosed that the much talked about palliative for airlines and the entire industry is ready.
He stressing that the only thing left is the template to adopt that would be fair to everybody.
Sirika spoke yesterday at a Webinar entitled, “Nigerian Aviation Stakeholders Rub Minds On ‘Status Of Industry Restart’.
While addressing over 300 participants, Sirika said: “Palliative is being considered and it is for the whole industry. There will be a template and it would be fair to everyone in the industry.”
He assured stakeholders that their input would be implemented by the government.
