The Federal Government, on Tuesday, said it has launched an online portal aimed at providing Nigerian youth access to 2,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) tricycles.
This is part of a broader initiative to enhance transportation infrastructure and foster economic growth amid the economic hardship Nigerians are currently facing.
The Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, unveiled the portal in Abuja.
This he did in collaboration with the Presidential CNG Initiative (PI-CNG) and the National Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Owners & Riders Association (NATOMORAS).
During the launch, Olawande highlighted the portal’s role in ensuring transparency in the enrollment process for the CNG tricycle initiative.
The initiative is aimed at empowering youth within Nigeria’s commercial transportation sector.
He emphasized that the portal is designed to connect youth across the country with aggregators participating in the programme.

This aligns with Tinubu’s vision of creating equal opportunities for all Nigerians, irrespective of wealth or social status.
Also, Olawande reiterated that the initiative is part of Tinubu’s palliative programme, and young people do not need influential connections to benefit.
He further encouraged youth, especially those in or interested in the commercial transportation sector, to take advantage of this opportunity.

Tosin Coker, a representative of the Presidential CNG Initiative, expressed optimism about the collaboration between the Ministry, PI-CNG, and NATOMORAS.
She stated that it would open doors for employment opportunities for young people who can partner with aggregators and potentially own the tricycles in the future.
Chairman of NATOMORAS, Alhaji Sani Hassan praised the initiative as historic for his association.
He also promised to mobilize and educate members to fully participate in the programme.
He assured the Minister of NATOMORAS’ commitment to making the most of the opportunity provided by the CNG initiative.
This programme forms part of the government’s efforts to reduce transportation costs, promote cleaner energy, and provide economic empowerment for the Nigerian youth.
