FG Declares Oct 1 Public Holiday To Celebrate Independence

The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, October 1, 2024, as a public holiday in celebration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day Anniversary.

The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made this announcement on behalf of President Bola Tinubu in a statement released on Friday in Abuja.

The Minister acknowledged the sacrifices, patience, and hard work of the Nigerian people, assuring them that their contributions to the nation’s progress would not be in vain.

He, however, extended his congratulations to Nigerians both at home and abroad on the momentous occasion.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo also noted the importance of reflecting on the labour of Nigeria’s past heroes as the country continues its journey toward unity and development.

He emphasized that the dreams of building a prosperous and united Nigeria can only be achieved through collective effort and dedication to national unity.

Aligning with the theme of the Independence Day celebration, the Minister called on all citizens to remain resolute in their commitment to nation-building, stressing that the strength of Nigeria lies in the unity of its diverse people.

The Minister concluded by wishing all Nigerians a happy and peaceful Independence Day Anniversary and encouraged everyone to take this opportunity to renew their commitment to the growth and development of the nation.
