The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the promotion of 20,867 Senior Officers within key paramilitary agencies under the Ministry of Interior.
Saturday Telegraph reports that these promotions cut across the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), the Nigerian Correctional Service, and the Federal Fire Service.
The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) authorized these promotion in a bid to recognize the exceptional performances of officers.

Ja’afaru Ahmed, the Board’s Secretary, emphasized that these promotions are part of efforts to boost morale and strengthen national security.
According to Ahmed, the promotions are spread across different ranks, with some officers being recognized for their outstanding contributions to national security, firefighting, border control, and corrections.
The CDCFIB noted that these promotions are in line with the government’s commitment to strengthening the leadership and operational capacities of Nigeria’s paramilitary services.
The newly promoted officers are expected to take on increased responsibilities in safeguarding the nation and ensuring the smooth running of their respective services.
The Ministry of Interior reiterated its commitment to continuously improving the working conditions of officers in these agencies, as well as providing the necessary support to enhance the efficiency of the paramilitary sector.
