Ayodele Fayose, former governor of Ekiti State on Sunday publicly disassociated himself from the recent media reports linking him to claims of self-declaration as National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Taking to his verified X handle to debunked the purported claims, Fayose also distanced himself from involvement in the suspension of prominent party members, including former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Umar Damagun, Nyesom Wike and Seyi Makinde.
The PDP chieftain emphasized that the current Chairman of the PDP is Ambassador Umar Damagum, saying that he has no aspirations to take over the position.
He, however, clarified that he is not the only Fayose in Nigeria, urging the public to avoid confusion by ensuring they identify him as Peter Ayodele Fayose when referencing such stories.

“I am not part of any drama in the PDP and have no interest in any political office, either appointed or elective,” Fayose stated.
He dismissed the media claims as false and advising the public to read news content carefully, not just the headlines.
The former governor reaffirmed his disengagement from the current internal politics within the party.
He expressed his desire to remain uninvolved in the ongoing controversies.
It would be recalled that Isaac Fayose, brother of former Ekiti Governor Ayo Fayose, declared himself PDP chairman and suspended key party members.
However, his shared last name with the former governor has sparked confusion on social media about the news report.
