The Football Association (FA) has officially announced that the Cup will no longer be played in the first round commencing from the upcoming season.
In an effort to improve the competition, the Premier League and the FA have reached an agreement to scrap the first round.
According to the Football Association, there will be at least six seasons for the new format.
It added that it will guarantee that all games aside from the fourth round, which has a window of Friday through Wednesday take place on weekends.

There will be no Premier League football during the designated exclusivity times for the fourth, fifth, and quarterfinal rounds.
On the Saturday of the Premier League’s last weekend, there will also be an FA Cup final.
