Ex-EFCC Chairman, Bawa Mourns Mother’s Death

Former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, is mourning the death of his mother, Hajiya Hadiza Ahmed Bawa, who passed away in Abuja on Wednesday night.

The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear at the time of this report. Bawa confirmed the loss in a brief statement, expressing his deep sorrow and revealing that his mother is survived by ten children.

“Yes, it is true I lost my mother,” Bawa stated during a telephone conversation with Daily Trust.

Arrangements are currently being made to transport Hajiya Hadiza’s remains to Kebbi State, where her funeral rites are expected to be held later on Thursday, in accordance with Islamic tradition.

Abdulrasheed Bawa made history as the first civilian to lead the EFCC following his nomination on February 16, 2021. However, his tenure was cut short when he was suspended from office by President Bola Tinubu in July.
