…But Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg Could Leave
The England international has no intention of leaving the North London club as Ange Postecoglou’s reign gets underway, but the Dane could be allowed to go.
Eric Dier is determined to stay at Tottenham Hotspur and fight for his place under the new head coach, but Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg could be allowed to leave this summer.
Postecoglou starts work at Spurs on Saturday, with the club’s non-international players due to start returning this weekend.
Dier should be among the first group of players back to work under Postecoglou and the midfielder is looking forward to impress the Australian trainer.
Postecoglou wants to sign a new central defender as Erick can also be a Defender, having already seen goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario James Maddison join this summer, with a number of players considered.
Dier only has one year remaining on his contract and is yet to sign an extension, which has raised questions about the 29-year-old’s future.
But it is understood that Dier has no intention of leaving Tottenham this summer and feels fully fit after recovering from groin surgery he underwent in May to cure a problem that had troubled him since the World Cup.
The England international is said to be excited to work with Postecoglou and has received no indication that Tottenham is looking to offload him to make room for any new arrivals.
With captain Hugo Lloris expected to leave, Postecoglou will be mindful of Dier’s leadership qualities in a squad that, aside from Harry Kane, lacks big personalities.
One player who could be allowed to leave is midfielder Hojbjerg, who has been linked with Atletico Madrid.

Tottenham insist they have not yet received any bids or direct approaches for Hojbjerg, but it is likely that an offer for the 27-year-old would be listened to given he has two years left to run.
Other than potentially selling Hojbjerg, Spurs are looking to offload Davinson Sanchez, Ivan Perisic, Ryan Sessegnon, Giovani Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilon, while Harry Winks is poised to join Leicester City.
