Manchester United team gave manager, Erik ten Hag some much-needed breathing space with a 3-0 win at Southampton on Saturday.
Saturday Telegraph report that a goals from Matthijs de Ligt, Marcus Rashford, and Alejandro Garnacho secured the victory, but United had to survive an early Southampton storm and rely on Andre Onana’s penalty save to keep the score level at 0-0.
De Ligt’s first United goal and Rashford’s first in six months quickly flipped momentum in the visitors’ favour just before half-time.
Southampton’s woes were compounded when captain Jack Stephens was sent off 11 minutes from time for a wild challenge on Garnacho, who rounded off the scoring in stoppage time.

The win lifts United up to eighth in the Premier League, while Southampton remains without a point from four games on their return to the top flight.
Ten Hag’s position had come under scrutiny after back-to-back defeats before the international break, but this victory will provide some relief for the Dutchman.
The Red devils struggled to control midfield in the opening quarter and were indebted to Onana’s penalty save as a turning point in the game.
De Ligt rose to fame at Ajax under Ten Hag and rewarded his manager’s faith with the opening goal. Rashford’s much-needed goal came on 41 minutes, and Garnacho rounded off the scoring in the 96th minute.
The victory will ease pressure on Ten Hag, but Southampton’s struggles continue.
The Saints brought in Aaron Ramsdale from Arsenal on the final day of the transfer window, but the England goalkeeper could not prevent the defeat.
