The atmosphere is charged and filled with enthusiasm as the first-ever Akwa Ibom Annual Ibom Boat Regatta and Fishing Festival kicks off in the State on Friday, September 27, 2024.
According to the State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Sir Charles Udoh, the event scheduled to be held at Marina Beach, Nwaniba by 2 pm, is organized as part of activities to commemorate the 2024 WORLD TOURISM DAY Celebrations in Akwa Ibom State.
Already the three Communities billed for the Regatta Carnival including; Nwaniba, Mbiakong and Ifiayong are in top spirit awaiting the mouth-watering
prizes to be won in addition to other numerous consolation prizes.
Addressing Journalists in Uyo on Thursday, the Tourism Commissioner said, the ceremony which is expected to have the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, as the Special Guest of Honour, will feature: the unveiling of the restored Slave boat and the Slave Memorial Park.
Sir Charles Udoh disclosed that the event will commence with a float roadshow with cultural displays from the Ibom Plaza to empty at the Nwaniba beach where the audience will be thrilled by two of our best homegrown artists “Disasta” and “Mr. Amanam”.
The Tourism Commissioner who said the ceremony promises to be a spectacle to behold, has accordingly extended a Special invitation to the Political Class, Organised Private Sector, Stakeholders of the Tourism and hospitality industry as well as the general public.
