#EndBadGovernance : Thugs Harass Journalist, Attack Protesters In Rivers

The #EndBadGovernance protests took a new turn in Rivers State yesterday as thugs reportedly attacked a Channels Television journalist, Deborah Agbalam, while she was covering the protest in Port Harcourt.

The thugs, positioned opposite the Federal Secretariat, allegedly intimidated and chased away protesters, beating two individuals before the arrival of journalists.

Eyewitnesses reported that the thugs surrounded and threatened journalists, stating their intention to prevent the protest. The Federal Secretariat has been a gathering point for protesters for seven days.

Rivers State Police Commissioner, Olatunji Disu, expressed concern over the incident and promised a thorough investigation to ensure accountability and prevent future occurrences.

Despite the Police Commissioner’s efforts to maintain professionalism and orderliness among protesters, yesterday’s incident marks a disturbing turn of events.

The nationwide protest, now in its seventh day, has turned violent in some northern states, highlighting concerns about public safety and the right to peaceful assembly.
