#EndBadGovernance: Portable Loses 100,000 Followers Amid Controversial Comment On Protest

Nigerian street pop singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable has lost over 100,000 followers on Instagram hours after making controversial remarks about ongoing protest in the country.

It would be recalled that Nigerians embarked on a nationwide protest against bad governance in Nigeria on Thursday, August 1st, amid the severe hunger and hardship in the country.

However, Portable in a post via his social media page claimed there were no protests in Sango, Ogun State where he lives.

He explained that previous demonstrations had been ignored by the government, prompting him and those in his area to focus on their daily hustle instead.

His remark did not sit well with many fans as he faced severe backlash with over 100,000 Instagram followers unfollowing the singer.

Prior to this development, fans had warned they would unfollow him, and many followed through on their threats. Many more fans have pledged to unfollow the artist if he continues to make such statements.

The “zazuu” crooner had also made a previous video comparing himself to billionaire, Aliko Dangote, describing the  protests as activities for the poor.
