…Urges President Tinubu to Increase Minimum Wage
As part of her commitment to ensuring an improved standard of living, shared economic prosperity and community development, Senator Uche Ekwunife on Tuesday inspected the ongoing Ultra-Modern Eke Nri Market project she attracted to the community.
However, the project which is tailored to impact the socioeconomic conditions of the local community is one of the numerous developmental projects facilitated by the Senator in the 9th National Assembly.
Ekwunife, who spoke shortly after the inspection exercise noted that the market will accelerate commercial activities in the community and help the traders to do business effortlessly. She added that the market will also serve the neighbouring communities.
Also, the Senator explained that she struck a balance between discharging her core responsibilities as a lawmaker and attracting tangible constituency projects across the length and breadth of the constituency.
She added that said that the market project was in line with her drive for the development of the local economy on the floor of the Senate.
“I’m satisfied with the level and quality of work executed by the contractor thus far and I’m optimistic that the project will be completed within the time frame. Hopefully, I will continue to rely on my contacts and goodwill to attract developmental projects for the betterment of my constituency”, she remarked.
Commending President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, for his courage and political will to put an end to fuel subsidy, Ekwunife urged the Federal Government to prioritize people-centred economic policies to ameliorate the pains of those in rural communities.
The Senator reiterated the urgent need for the review of the minimum wage in order to reflect the realities of the effect of the removal of the subsidy and the subsequent rise in inflation.
Earlier, Ekwunife donated food items to more than one thousand women in the community and stated that the gesture was to help them cushion the effect of rising food inflation”, she added.
