The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP Adeniran Akinwale, has called on the youth in the state to avoid participating in a protest scheduled for October 1.
Akinwale who made the call on Sunday in Ado Ekiti warned that it could be hijacked by miscreants and lead to chaos.
The Commissioner emphasized that the use of illegal means to pursue lawful demands is counterproductive, and urged the youth to embrace peaceful dialogue instead of resorting to protests that could potentially escalate into violence.
Akinwale said, “We are encouraging the people of Ekiti State to avoid joining the planned protest to prevent it from being hijacked by hoodlums, which would not benefit anyone.

“Our focus is on maintaining peace and tranquillity across the state.”
He further stated that the police had been engaging key stakeholders in discussions and would continue to reach out to the youth and other relevant groups to ensure they do not take the law into their own hands.
Reflecting on the current global and national economic challenges, Akinwale added, “Given the present economic situation, both internationally and nationally, everyone has to make sacrifices. No one needs to adopt methods that would disrupt the peace in the state.”
The police chief assured residents that the authorities are fully committed to ensuring the safety and security of the state, particularly during the planned event.
