
On Wednesday, Vice President Kashim Shettima called for unity among Nigerians and hoped for their long-term health as he joined other Nigerian Muslims to celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.
Speaking after observing the Eid prayers at the National Prayer Ground, Abuja, Shettima said, “May Allah heal us from whatever afflicts us in our private lives and as a nation, and may this day bring forth enduring unity and progress to o.ur beloved country”.
According to the statement issued by the State House Director of Information for the Office of the Vice President, Olusola Abiola said Shettima at National Eid Ground prays for Nigeria’s unity, and progress, adding that he urged Nigerians to embody the season’s central characteristics of forgiveness and sacrifice.
The statement reads, “This sacred day is an occasion to reflect on the mercy of Allah, as revealed through the gracious blessings bestowed upon Prophet Abraham and his son, Prophet Isma’il.

Along with other believers, Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Barau Jibrin, the Deputy President of the Senate, were present at the prayer area.
The Vice President then left Abuja for his native Borno, where Governor Babagana Zulum welcomed him.
Shettima arrived and viewed a Guard of Honour displayed by a Nigerian Air Force detachment at the Maiduguri Air Force Base.
Later, he paid Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin Sl-Kanemi, the Shehu of Borno, a courtesy call at his palace.
