Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has urged the affluent individuals in the State to consider the less-privileged while sharing their sacrificial meat.
He made the call in his Sallah message to the people of the State on Saturday, June 15.
The governor reminded the wealthy individuals of the current economic hardship being faced by Nigerians which could not allow the less-privileged, the needy and the low-income earners to acquire sacrificial animals.
According to him, the ever-skyrocketing prices of essential items have also made it impossible for many families to acquire the sacrificial animals, hence the need for the well-to-do to ensure that they share their meat with those who could not make the sacrifice.
“Adopt the Islamic sharing formula while distributing your meat so that many could benefit.
“Show love, care and concern to the have-nots especially your close relatives and neighbours so as to earn Allah’s bounties in this festive season,” Aliyu added.
According to him, the wealthy ones in the society need to emulate the State government in terms of rendering support to the have-nots, less-privileged and needy fellows.
Gov Aliyu in a statement issued on Friday by Abubakar Bawa, Press Secretary to the Governor further said that the State government has expended a huge amount of money towards assisting the less-privileged, the needy and the low-income earners so that they can observe this year’s Eid-el- Kabir with a relative ease.
“As Muslims, we have to be helpful and supportive to one another, especially in times of need such as the one we are in now.
“This is in accordance with the teachings of Islam for us to always be our brothers’ keepers,” Aliyu added.
The governor restate the unwavering commitment of the present administration in ensuring the welfare of the people of the state.
He, therefore, appealed to the people of the State to continue to pray for the present administration for them to enjoy more dividends of democracy across the state.
