EFCC Arrests 48 Suspected Internet Fraudsters In Abia

The operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have apprehended 48 suspects in Umudike, Abia State, on suspicion of involvement in internet fraud.

The suspects were arrested on Friday, August 30, 2024, by the Uyo Zonal Directorate of the EFCC.

The suspects were arrested at various locations within Umudike following credible intelligence on their alleged cybercrime activities.

During the operation, the EFCC operatives seized 12 luxury vehicles, 15 laptops of different brands, and 68 high-end smartphones, all believed to be proceeds from their illicit activities.

The EFCC has stated that the suspects will be charged in court as soon as investigations are completed.
