The Sokoto State Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 13 suspected internet fraudsters in the State.
The suspects were arrested on Saturday in the Gidan Yaro and Dandima areas of Sokoto, following actionable intelligence regarding their involvement in internet-related crimes.
In an official statement released on Monday via X, the EFCC confirmed the arrests saying, “Operatives of the Sokoto Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested thirteen (13) suspected internet fraudsters in Sokoto, Sokoto State.

“They were arrested based on actionable intelligence on their suspected involvement in internet-related offences.”
All the suspects claimed to be students of Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto.
According to the EFCC, they will be charged to court once the ongoing investigations are concluded.
The anti-graft agency reiterated its commitment to fighting cybercrime and urged the public to remain vigilant.
The arrest of these suspects highlights the EFCC’s continuous efforts to combat internet fraud in the region.
