
As the collation of results for the Edo State governorship election commenced at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collation centre in Benin City, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has emerged victorious in four out of the seven Local Government Areas (LGAs) announced so far.
In Ovia North East LGA, the PDP secured a significant victory with 15,311 votes, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) garnered 13,225 votes, and the Labour Party (LP) received 1,675 votes.
The Esan South East LGA also favoured the PDP, which obtained 14,199 votes compared to the APC’s 8,398 votes, with the LP trailing with just 98 votes.

Earlier results showed that the PDP and APC tied in Ovia North East LGA, both with 13,225 votes, while the LP came in third with 1,675 votes. In Uhunmwonde LGA, the PDP took the lead with 9,339 votes, followed closely by the APC with 8,776 votes, and LP with 769.
The APC had previously won in Owan West LGA with 12,277 votes against the PDP’s 11,284 votes, and in Esan West LGA, it polled 12,952 votes compared to the PDP’s 11,004 votes. In Igueben LGA, the PDP won 8,470 votes, while the APC received 5,907 and the LP 494.
The ongoing collation reflects a competitive race, with the PDP currently leading in more LGAs.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) continues to oversee the transparent process, urging calm among voters and party supporters as final results are awaited.
