
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has identified 60 flashpoints across the Edo State that could experience heightened tension during the voting process in Saturday’s governorship election.
These flashpoints, according to the NSCDC were highlighted during the agency’s strategic meeting as areas prone to violence and election-related disruptions.
The NSCDC, in collaboration with other security agencies, is implementing measures to ensure the safety of voters, electoral officials, and observers at these locations.

The agency, however, said it planning to deploy sufficient personnel to monitor and neutralize any potential threats that may arise on election day.
The governorship election, scheduled for September 21, 2024, has sparked intense competition, with various parties working to secure their candidate’s victory.
Security agencies also are working diligently to ensure a peaceful and fair election.
