With less than 72 hours to the anticipated Edo State governorship election, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, President of the Appeal Court on Wednesday established Election Petition Tribunal in the state.
Mua’azu Ibrahim Bagudu, the tribunal’s Secretary, who disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja said Justice Dongban-Mensem emphasized the tribunal’s formation aligns with the provisions of Section 285 (1) and (2) of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria (as amended), and Paragraph 133 (3b) of the Electoral Act 2022.

According to the Secretary, the Tribunal’s Secretariat and Registry have been set up at the High Court of Justice complex in Benin City, Edo State’s capital, and are now open to the public.
The Appeal Court President advised individuals intending to file petitions or make further inquiries to contact the tribunal’s secretary for guidance.
