Engr. Marvellous Godwins Omobayo, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, has reiterated his position as the authentic Deputy Governor, despite ongoing legal challenges.
He emphasized that he remains focused on his official duties, as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution, and continues to support Governor Godwin Obaseki in driving the state’s economic prosperity and transformation.
Omobayo made this statement during a solidarity visit from the leadership and members of three recognized transport unions in Edo State: the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), and Edo State Drivers Welfare Scheme.
The Deputy Governor expressed gratitude for the unions’ unwavering support since his assumption of office and commended their loyalty to Governor Obaseki.
Earlier, Comrade Monday Orhue, Chairman of RTEAN, and Chief Odion Olaye, Chairman of NURTW, stated that the unions’ visit aimed to reaffirm their total support for Governor Obaseki and pass a vote of confidence in Omobayo as the recognized Deputy Governor. Chief Olaye expressed optimism that the Obaseki-led administration would achieve a successful tenure.
