Edo Guber: Obi, Others Rally Support For Akpata, Task Security Agencies, INEC On Credible Poll

Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in 2023 presidential election, Mr. Peter Obi and other chieftains of the Labour Party (LP) yesterday tasked security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to play by the rules of the game and ensure free, fair and credible election in Saturday’s Edo State governorship election.

Obi gave the task on the grand finale of the Edo State Labour Party Governorship Campaign rally in Benin yesterday. He said that the people of the state will surely resist any attempt by any political party to rig the election, adding that Nigerians are suffering today because of the wrong choice of leadership they have made.

He said that the correction must start from Edo State by voting in the governorship candidate of the LP. He blamed various state governors who usually shift responsibilities to the Federal Government to the detriment of the citizens of the states noting that the governorship of the party, Olumide Akpata, will not do that.

He, however, called on the people of the state to come out on Saturday to vote Akpata and his running mate, Kadiri Asamah. Speaking also, Prof. Yusuf Baba Dati, running mate to Mr. Peter Obi in last year’s presidential election, called on Labour Party faithful in the state to utilise their numerical strength to enthrone their choice candidate come Saturday.

Also speaking, Senator Neda Imasuen, Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District, said they have done it before and that the party should be prepared to repeat the same feat this weekend.
