Barely 24 hours to the anticipated 2024 Edo State gubernatorial election, the Labour Party (LP) has debunked claims that its governorship candidate, Osehor Akpata, has stepped down in support of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo.
This clarification follows the circulation of a letter purportedly endorsing Ighodalo ahead of the September 21, 2024, election on social media.

The party, however, insisted that Akpata remains in the race, dismissing the letter as fake.
Labour Party’s leadership emphasized that it is committed to the election and urged supporters to disregard the misleading information.
