The candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for the September 21 Edo State governorship election Olumide Akpata yesterday promised to turn things around for good and uplift the people’s living conditions.
He said after campaigning in the 18 LGAs, they discovered that several communities lack basic social amenities, citing Urhonigbe and Eme Ora which have not had electricity for the last 10 and four years, respectively.
He said: “The situation we saw is a nightmare but this is the situation of the people daily, the farmers are unable to evacuate their produce to the markets.
“The situation is not only in the hinterland, the approach to Benin City, the State capital, all the roads are a nightmare, flooding everywhere.
“The state of affairs I have presented is the misgovernance of the APC and PDP that have been at the helm of affairs of the state for the past 25 years.”
The ex-Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) President said poverty had been weaponized which has made politics monetized.
