As part of efforts to uphold electoral integrity, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has deployed operatives to all the Local Government Areas in Edo State ahead of today’s governorship election.
The move is aimed at curbing voters’ inducement and ensuring a transparent election process across the State
In a statement issued by the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the Commission’s Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, emphasized the importance of insulating voters from financial inducement.
According to him, vote buying is a criminal offense that will not be tolerated.
He reaffirmed the EFCC’s commitment to its mandate of tackling economic and financial crimes, which includes preventing unlawful financial influence during elections.

He added that the EFCC’s role in monitoring elections aligns with its broader mission of combating economic crimes and maintaining the integrity of Nigeria’s democratic processes.
The Commission’s deployment is part of broader national efforts to ensure free, fair, and credible elections by cracking down on financial misconduct that could undermine the election’s outcome.
The EFCC has consistently played a pivotal role in election monitoring, warning political actors that any form of vote buying will face serious legal consequences.
