Former Senate President, Anyim Pius Pius, ex-gubernatorial candidate of labour party in Ebonyi State, Arc Edward Nkwegu, Senator Obina Ogba and 1,000 others at the weekend decamped to the All Progressive Party (APC).
In a similar vein, a former gubernatorial candidate of Labour Party (LP) in the State, Arc Edward Nkwegu and over 500 party stalwarts dumped the party and defected to the APC.
This were the major highlights during the APC grand finale of the chairmanship/councillorship campaign rally of the state chapter of the party held at the Abakaliki township stadium.
Handing over the flag of the APC to the decampees, the National Chairman of APC Alhaji Abdulahi Ganduje, commended them for their bold step in joining the APC.

Earlier in his speech, Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State praised the defectors for joining APC”
“I must congratulate this defectors for deeming it necessary to join our party, all the new entrants will be carried along”
“I am committed to the ideals of the party by accommodating all opinions, this is a new begining for you”
“Today is a significant gesture of solidarity, to have the National chairman and members of the National Working Committee to the state”

Contributing, the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State Hope Uzodinma, urged leaders in the south east to join AP in order to connect the zone to national politics.
Goodwill messages were received from the deputy National Chairman of APC south east zone Prince Ijeoma Aniniogbu and the vice Chief Emmanuel Enugu among others.
