Eagles Intensify Preparation As 20 Players Train In Uyo

Super Eagles continued their preparation for the double header Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against the Mediterranean Knights of Libya as 20 players trained yesterday evening at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Leading the players to training was the captain of the team, Williams Troost-Ekong, alongside Ballon d’Or nominee, Ademola Lookman.

Others in the first-day training were the three goal – keepers invited for the games Stanley Nwabali, Ama Obasogie and Maduka Okoye while Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka, Raphael Onyedika, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Victor Boniface were also present.

To complete the players dur – ing yesterday opening training were Samuel Chukwueze, Ben – jamin Tanimu, Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi, Bruno Onyemaechi, Taiwo Awoniyi, Alex Iwobi, Moses Simon, Alhassan Yusuf and Ola Aina.

Nigeria began their qualification campaign with a 3-0 victory over Benin at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium and followed it with a draw against Rwanda, leaving them top of the group with four points.

A pair of wins over Libya on Friday in Uyo and four days later in Benina, Libya, could cement their spot in the next edition of the AFCON to be hosted by Morocco in 2025.
