DSS Recovers 2,000 Bags Of Diverted Rice In Katsina

The Department of State Services (DSS) has recovered 2,000 bags of rice out of the 20 trucks donated to Katsina State by the Federal Government.

The recovered rice was allegedly diverted by some government officials. Governor Dikko Radda’s Special Adviser on Infrastructure Nasir Lawal was reportedly arrested alongside some government officials and traders in connection with the alleged diversion of the commodity.

DSS officials impounded the bags of rice at the Central Market in Katsina. 1,200 bags of the diverted rice were allegedly traced to a minister, with other officials being interrogated by the DSS over the source of the other 800 bags.

Meanwhile, civil society organizations, vulnerable persons and other residents have condemned the delay in distributing the rice.
