DSS Arrests IPOB Commander

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a top Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) commander in connection with the outlawed group’s violent activities in Ebonyi State.

Highly placed security sources told New Telegraph yesterday that the suspect (name withheld) was apprehended following intelligence reports of his involvement in heinous activities within the general area.

The DSS was said to have recovered 600 rounds of 5.6mm calibre ammunition, among other dangerous items, from the suspect. The sources also disclosed the killing of scores of Boko Haram terrorists in the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

A security source said: “I’m pleased to inform you that precisely on September 9, our personnel, with the support of the military, apprehended a high-profile IPOB commander, who is also the coordinator of the outlawed group’s activities in Ebonyi State.

“At the time of his arrest, he had recruited several mercenaries for possible attack on the state, and its environs, according to intelligence gathered.”
