Two-term Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore has been reportedly detained by the Department of State Service (DSS) upon his arrival at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.
Sunday Telegraph reports that his arrest followed the August 1 to 10 #EndBadGovernance in Nigeria and the proposed October 1 protest.
Following his arrival in Lagos Airport on Sunday, the publisher of Sahara Reporter was arrested, detained and his international passport was confiscated by the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS).
According to Sowore in a post on his Facebook account, the authorities cited an order to detain him.

After a short period, Sowore was released and his passport returned.
The activist claims this incident is part of a government clampdown on dissent, ahead of the planned #FearlessInOctober protests against bad governance, which Sowore has been championing.
