Don’t Expect Cheap Petrol From Dangote Refinery, Shehu Sani Tells Nigerians

Former lawmaker from Kaduna Centre, Senator Shehu Sani has advised Nigerians not to rely on the Dangote refinery to solve their petrol problems.

Sani who spoke via his verified X handle on Saturday said the Chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote is a businessman, not a philanthropist, and will not provide cheap petrol out of charity.

This is coming after the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) clarified that petroleum product pricing is determined by global market forces, including at the Dangote Refinery.

The former lawmaker emphasized that NNPCL still plays a crucial role in ensuring the stability and future of Nigeria’s energy sector.

He cautioned Nigerians against waiting for “manna” from Aliko Dangote, highlighting that the businessman is in it for profit, not social service.

Sani’s statement serves as a reality check for Nigerians who may have high expectations from the Dangote Refinery, reminding them that the refinery is a business venture, not a solution to their petrol woes.
