It was a pathetic sight, with uncontrolled weeping at the Ogbe- Utu home of parents of the 13-years-old girl, Joy Onua, who was allegedly raped to death by a suspected ritualist at Issele-Uku in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, as the father demanded to see the suspected killer, one Chuka Nwosu. The suspect has been on the run since the victim died of suspected excessive bleeding following the alleged rape.
The suspect allegedly bewitched the victim while on her way from the market, whisked her into a Hilux van, belonging to the Delta State Local Government Service Commission and drove to a hotel room at Bathonic Guest House in Ogbe-Utu where he allegedly violated her.
The suspect, a father of two children, who hails from Ishiekpe Quarters in Issele-Uku, was alleged to have collected her blood with an handkerchief and made away with it.
The girl was rushed to the St. Theresa Hospital at Issele-Uku, where she was rejected and referred to the El-Comfort Hospital at Bonsaac area of Asaba for resuscitation, but she died on arrival.
A nurse at the hospital (names withheld) said the victim confided in her elder sister, Happiness, what happened and how her assailant raped and dropped N1,000 with phone number to call him if there was any complications, before she died.
Her body has been deposited at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba. But her father, Mr Azubuike Onua, 64, and mother, who were speechless when New Telegraph met them at Ogbe-Utu Quarters at Issele-Uku yesterday, insisted on setting their eyes on the suspect.
