Rep condones Zulum, offers N100m to Maiduguri flood victims
President of Aliko Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has donated N1.5 billion to victims of the Maiduguri flood disaster. He made the announce – ment during an assessment visit to some of the affected locations in Maiduguri.
Accompanied by Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasara – wa state, Dangote said out of the amount, N1 billion was given to National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to work with the Borno State goernment.
“I just want to clarify, we have this flood committee. NEMA wrote us a letter; so we sat down and approved N1 billion to NEMA to work with the Borno State government. “On top of that, the Aliko Dangote Foundation will put additional N500 millions so that’s #1.5 billion.
Thank you,” he said. Earlier, Gov Sule also announced the donation of unspecified number of trucks of relief materials to support the Borno state government. Responding, Governor Babagana Zulum praised them for generosity and love towards the people of Borno.
“Not everyone that has money has the heart of giving, Aliko Dangote has been helping our people, this is not first time. I pray that Allah will reward you with Aljannah.” “I would like to thank my brother, Gov Abdullahi Sule, who came along with Aliko Dangote to visit us at this trying moment.”
Meanwhile Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Committee on Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Hon. Aliyu Betara has donated the sum of N100 million to support the victims of Maiduguri flood.
Betara, who represents Biu/Bayo/Shani and Kwaya Kusar Federal Constituency of Borno State made the donation to Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State during an onthe-spot assessment of the disaster in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
While expressing grief over the deaths and displacement of thousands of Maiduguri residents, Betara applauded the prompt intervention of Governor Zulum towards cushioning the effects of the flood disaster.
Betara who expressed solidarity with the victims of Maiduguri flood, assured that necessary intervention will be provided through relevant institutions with a view to ensure their rehabilitation.
He said,”Your Excellency, I on behalf of the good people of Biu/Bayo/ Shani/Kwaya/Kusar Federal Constituency wish to commiserate with you and the entire state government and all our people who are directly and indirectly affected by this unfortunate flood incident, which led to the untimely death of our dear beloved brothers and sisters.
“As evident, thousands of our people were rendered homeless and their livelihood washed away. May Almighty Allah consoles you and all of us and grant the departed souls of our loved ones Aljana-Filta.
“I wish to also commend your Excellency and your cabinet for rallying support for our people who were affected by this unfortunate incident as well as the previous interventions you have initiated to bring succour to the affected people across the State.
