Cynthia Morgan Calls Out Davido Over Edo Election

Nigerian singer, Cynthia Morgan has publicly criticized fellow artist, Davido for his stance on the recently concluded Edo State gubernatorial elections.

Morgan who took to her Instagram story on Sunday accused Davido of using his late mother’s Edo heritage as propaganda to involve himself in the elections.

Morgan, who described herself as typically “Apolitical,” expressed frustration over Davido’s interest in the election, suggesting that he could not relate to the struggles of the average Edo citizen.

She further questioned his connection to Edo State, writing, “Since you’ve been screaming your mum was from Edo State, I have never seen you visit her family house nor mention the village or family she is from.

“It has only been a propaganda thing for you. Please leave Edo people alone. You’re not from Edo State, neither do you know the struggles of an average Edo man or woman.”

Her comments came after Davido called out the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on social media platform X, expressing concern over the conduct of the elections.

Davido had earlier explained his involvement in the election, stating, “My mom is from Edo for those wondering why I’m interested in the election… but we as Nigerians should be concerned.”

He went on to criticize INEC, referencing past electoral challenges, including those he addressed in Osun State.

The post sparked a debate among X users, with some questioning Davido’s interest in Edo politics.

This exchange and Cynthia Morgan’s subsequent remarks have added fuel to the ongoing controversy surrounding the Edo State elections.
