Customs Generates N100.9BN at PTML Command

Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Port Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Command, has generated N100.98 billion on vehicles and other im- ports between January and June 2023.

Its Area Controller, Comptrollerr Saidu Abba Yusuf, said that the command had a record breaking feat of vehicle clearance within three hours from customs control.

Also, the command’s Public Relation, Muhammad Yakubu, a chief superintendent, said in a statement that the controller had described the timely clearance of imported vehicles through PTML as a product of holistic compliance involving NCS officers and all port users.

Yusuf noted that the command processed imports with a total tonnage of 45,626.39 metric tonnes worth a total free onboard value of N3.02 million. He added the command intercepted and seized 2×40 feet containers with duty paid value of N10.48 million with mark and numbers, ACLU9664782 and ACLU9715690.

The comptroller stresssed that the seized containers were conveying 2,598 pieces of used motor tyres, 18 pieces of used washing machines, fridges, used mattresses and other used household items, saying that efforts were on to track down, arrests and prosecute the importers.

For the two seizures. The comptroller urged operatives of the command to sustain and improve upon the tempo of achievement.

Yusuf said that customs officers serving in PTML under his watch had renewed their commitment to always implement government policies relating to trade facilitation, ease of doing business, strict observance of World Customs Organidation (WCO) and Time Release Study (TRS).
