Cross River State House of Assembly has directed the State’s Head of Service, Dr Innocent Eteng to reinstate Mr Emmanuel Ajom, as the Acting Director of the State Fire Service.
The Assembly-led by its Speaker, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem in a resolution stated that Ajom is the highest Director as far as the hierarchy was concerned in the fire service and should therefore be the one to replace Mr Sylvester Ndifon who has retired as Director of the Service.
“In line with the staff disposition at the Cross River State Fire Service, Mr Ajom is next to Mr Ndifon who has retired from the Service, accordingly, Ajom should be placed to occupy the position of Director of the Fire Service”.
This directive, according to the lawmakers, should take effect immediately.
Meanwhile, one Otugbo Okedim who is five steps below Ajom was placed as Acting Director of the Fire Service before now.
Speaking on the development, the Assembly said Mr Ajom from the staff hierarchy is on level 15 while Otugbo is on level 14 and in line with the protocol in the Civil Service , a junior officer cannot head his senior when the said senior has no impediments in the form of official indictment or under financial misappropriation investigation.
