Cricket league to commence Dec. 11

The Club Cricket Committee League after several months of inactivity is expected to commence the 2021/2022 cricket season on Saturday, December 11, 2021. Speaking at the Press Conference to herald the new season Chairman, Club Cricket Committee League, Akin Denton, explained that cricket activities both in Division 1 and 2 would take place at the UNILAG Cricket Oval and C.M.S Grammar School, Bariga, respectively. He also revealed that the league would be sponsored by Honourable Gbolahan Yishawu, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly and a supporter of Cricket. The chairman hinted that 16 teams (Division 1 and 2), 104 T20 games in would be played in five months to determine the winner of both Divisions. Kofi Sagoe, Chairman, Lagos State Cricket Association who represented the sponsor said his gesture towards the CCC League was based on too much attention placed on football at the expense of other sports such as Cricket. The first game on Saturday, December 11, by 10:00am will see defending champion Ibeju Lekki Cricket Club slug it out with runners up Government College Ibadan Old Boys Cricket Club at the UNILAG Cricket Oval while at 2:00pm Rocks of Abeokuta will face Government College Ughelli Cricket Club.
