China, Russia To Hold Joint Military Drills

People’s Republic of China on Monday announced that it will conduct joint military exercises with Russia this month, reinforcing the growing strategic ties between the two nations.

The “North-Joint 2024,” according to the statement sighted by New Telegraph drills will take place around the Sea of Japan and the Sea of Okhotsk, involving both naval and air forces.

The exercises aim at strengthening cooperation and improving the countries’ ability to respond to security threats.

It added that the two nations during this exercise will send fleets to relevant areas in the Pacific Ocean for joint maritime patrols.

China will also participate in Russia’s “Ocean-2024” strategic exercise. The exact dates for the drills were not provided.

This collaboration comes amid increasing military cooperation between the two powers, who have aligned against what they perceive as “Western hegemony” and U.S. dominance in global affairs.

China and Russia have held several military drills recently, with their partnership declared “no limits” shortly before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
