CAF President Reads Riot Act Over Poor Treatment Of Visiting Teams

…as football body rules on Libya Nigeria fiasco

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) President, Patrice Motsepe, has expressed strong disapproval over the poor treatment of visiting teams during continental matches, insisting that the body would no longer tolerate the shenanigans.

Motsepe said there is a need to maintain the integrity of the game on the continent and issued a stern warning to host countries and football associations, signaling that the era of subpar treatment of away teams must end.

The riot act come on the heels of the controversial Libya-Nigeria 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, which drew widespread attention for the alleged misconduct towards the Nigerian national team in Benghazi where the Super Eagles were stranded for more than 15 hours.

“When there was a problem with the Nigerian national team in Libya. I will not comment on that [merits] because there is a proper investigation,” the CAF president said.

“But I want to emphasise a principle that we will not tolerate because this is something that has been going on for some time.

“Let me emphasize, forget about the Nigeria and Libya situation because that process is being properly investigated and appropriate action will be taken.
