The foremost Osun traditional ruler and Chairman Council of Owu Monarchs, Oba Hammed Adekunle Makama, has described the attempt by some faceless groups to tarnish the image of the former Chief Of Army Staff and Nigeria Ambassador to Benin Republic, Ambassador  Tukur Yusuf Buratai as effort in futility.

He said the present ordeal being face by the former Chief of Army Staff is a calculated attempt by mischievous elements to tarnish his image just as he described social media against him as untrue and politically motivated.

Oba Olowu of Kuta contended that attribution of a house in Wuse, Abuja, where operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) raided and recovered huge cash and other luxury items to Ambassador, Buratai was a smear campaign.

Speaking at a press conference in Kuta on Tuesday over the recent publication against the former COAS, Olowu said Buratai is a an accomplish officer with unimpeachable character worthy of emulation.

The monarch, who was flanked by other traditional rulers in the state, said he will continue to support any Nigerian that is patriotic like Buratai

He said Buratai has shown enough commitment to the unity of Nigeria while in the office and for faceless groups to tarnish his image is unacceptable.

“We can vouch for the integrity of Buratai. It was the timely rebuttal of the ICPC hat thwarted the shenanigans of those who want to ridicule Buratai simply because of politics,” he said.

According to the traditional ruler: “It was the timely intervention of the ICPC that the money was found with the military contractor and not Buratai’s residence as being portrayed by the social media,” and described Buratai’s ordeal on the handwork of fake social media reports.

“For instance, if you found money meant for contract from one of Julius Berger’s directors, does it mean the money belongs to President Muhammadu Buhari who gave them contract?

“Buratai has no house in Wuse 2 where all the items recovered by the ICPC were found. It’s purely an attempt by politicians to tarnish his image. Not many people were comfortable with his presence at the Eagle Square recently during the All Progressives Congress Primary in Abuja,” he said.
