Building Collapse: FCTA Rescues Three Persons

The Federal Capital Territory Administration ( FCTA) through the FCT Emergency Management Department ( FEMD) on Tuesday rescued three persons from the rubble of the collapsed building.

The building which is located at number 23 Nkwere Street, off Ahmadu Bello Way, Area 11, Garki District was said to have collapsed late Monday evening

Acting Director General of FEMD, Mrs Florence Wenegieme said the rescued victims were construction workers, working on the site when the building collapsed.

She disclosed that while no life was lost, the rescued victims have been taken to the hospital for medical attention.

According to her, ” the FCT Emergency Management Department,(FEMD) yesterday at about 8.20 pm received a distress call on the 112 emergencies toll-free number on the collapse of the building which was undergoing renovations.

” On arrival at the incident scene, FEMD immediately activated the Department of Development Control, FCT Fire Service, Federal Fire Service, JULIUS BERGER and NEMA. The Garki Divisional Police Command was already on the ground. FEMD also activated the CGC and ZEBERCED construction companies.

” No Life was lost to the incident. Mrs Wenegieme appealed to developers and individuals to observe building codes at all times”.
