The former Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Garba Shehu has reacted to the news making rounds that his former principal fled to London from his country home in Daura, Katsina State due to insecurity.
Speaking on the development in a statement issued on Monday, Shehu claimed that the popular magazine made a dramatic assertion without first checking the facts.
He, however, dispelled the idea of a claimed exile by pointing out that the ex-President is currently in his hometown in Daura, Katsina State, with his family.
Shehu demanded responsibility and encouraged the magazine outfit to consider terminating the reporter who wrote the false piece as proper corrective action.

The former President’s aide emphasized the need for trustworthy news organizations to exercise vigilance and make sure that all information is thoroughly verified before publication.
Shehu added that the newspaper would have found reports verifying President Buhari’s return to Nigeria and his family’s presence if they had gathered information from a variety of sources.
He reiterated the need of maintaining journalistic integrity, stressing that one incident of fake news in a respectable publication can damage a reputation that has been hard-earned.
