The Acting Governor of Bormo State, Hon Umar Kadafur has sworn in the Chairman and members of the State House of Assembly, as well as the inugurated Chairman and members of the statutory boards of parastatals and reiterated the administration’s zero tolerance for corruption.
While presiding over the swearing-in and the inauguration of the commission and boards, the Acting Governor said “With these few remarks, the Chairman and Members of the 14 Boards and Agencies are hereby inaugurated. ”
Kadafur said “You must be accountable and transparent in the management of the resources entrusted to you for the benefit of the people you are serving. The dividends of good governance must be fairly distributed to all people without prejudice to political affiliation, gender, religious beliefs or ethnic background”.
He said, “This administration has zero tolerance for corruption, therefore, we have no room for indolence, nepotism, high-handedness or any form of indiscipline because you were appointed based on merit and track record of service. You must demonstrate the much-expected traits of good governance and decorum in the discharge of your duties”
“As you are all aware, this administration is determined to enhance the well-being of our people through the implementation of our pragmatic policy initiative. This is the only way we can earn the support of the people and justify the confidence reposed in us”, Hon Kadafur said.
The Acting Governor said “Today’s event marks a watershed in the annals of the history of Borno State as we converge here this morning on the occasion of the swearing-in ceremony of the Chairman and Members of Borno State House of Assembly Service Commission and inauguration of Chairmen and Members of 14 other Boards and Agencies. This occasion is quite appropriate and has great symbolic significance to the State.”.
“This administration has taken time to ensure that qualified and competent men and women have been appointed to serve in these sensitive positions of authority. You are assuming the mantle of leadership at a time when our people expect so much from you to deliver the policies and programmes of the Government, he added.
While congratulating the newly inaugurated boards, Kadafur said ” I am congratulating you all for scaling through our integrity test and other rigorous selection processes for your appointments.
“I wish to formally welcome you to the shared responsibility of Government which entailed dedication and selfless service to the people. You are expected to bring to bear your wealth of experience and integrity to the service of the people and exhibit commitment in discharging your
duties.”
He assured that the administration is determined to enhance the well-being of the people of the state through the implementation of pragmatic policy initiatives, stressing that this is the only way they can earn the support of the people and justify the confidence reposed to the government.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Secretary to the State Government, Hon Bukar Tijjani commended the members of the state House of Assembly for playing a great role in approving the name of the Governor’s nominees.
He also commended the Legislators for the cordial relationship between the Executive and the House and assured them of continued support of the Executive.
Speaking on behalf of the newly inaugurated boards, the Chairman of Borno Geographic Information Service (BOGIS), Alhaji Zannah Mahdi thanked the Governor for finding them worthy of the appointment and assured that they would justify the trust bestowed on them by putting to bear their wealth of experiences.
