Bobrisky Bribery Scandal: Journalists Restricted From Covering Investigation

The members of the House of Representatives have barred journalists from covering the ongoing investigation into the N15 million corruption allegations involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCS).

The bribery allegation which is in connection with the prosecution of the popular Nigerian crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky was held on Monday.

The Joint Committees on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Services, which is conducting the investigation, initially invited the press but later announced that the coverage of the proceedings is now prohibited.

This investigation addresses serious claims of corruption linked to the handling of the Bobrisky case by the EFCC and NCS.

It would be recalled that the House of Representatives summoned popular social media activist, Martin Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan and Bobrisky to appear before the House in the ongoing bribery allegation.

In a similar vein, some officers of the correctional centre allegedly involved in the bribery scandal have been suspended pending the conclusion of investigations into the matter.
