Following his latest trip to Nigeria, American billionaire, Bill Gates has revealed how he had to research about Afrobeats stars, Burna Boy and Rema.
Bill Gates who spoke in Lagos on Wednesday while addressing Polio and other health threats in Nigeria said his youngest daughter, Phoebe told him he will get the meet with the Afrobeats stars.
According to Gates, his 20-year-old daughter heard of his visit to Nigeria, she was happy that he would get the opportunity to meet Burna Boy and Rema.
The 67-year-old Gates said after the conversation, he felt the need to familiarise himself with the singers’ works by looking them up.
Speaking further, he said he was only able to watch Davido and Wizkid perform live the last time he came over to Nigeria.
He expressed his admiration for the creativity of young Nigerians and the popularity of Afrobeats music.
He said, “When my daughter Phoebe heard I was coming to Nigeria, she said, “You’re lucky because you get to see Burna Boy and Rema, so I had to look them up…because I’m so ‘hip’.
“But I remember the last time I was here, I got to see Davido & Wizkid perform.”
His revelation has however sparked a debate online and also ignited the viral conversation about old and new cats in the music industry.
