Betara Donates N100m To Maiduguri Flood Victims 

The Chairman, House Committee on FCT, Hon .Muktar Aliyu Betara representing Biu/Bayo/Shani and Kwaya Kusar federal constituency of Borno State has donated N100 million to the flood victims in Maiduguri, Borno state.

Betara donated the money to the affected flood victims during his visit to the state governor, Prof. Baba Gana Zulum on Thursday.

He commended the governor for his swift response to the unfortunate disaster which led to loss of lives and displaced thousands from their homes.

In response, Prof. Zulum appreciated Hon. Betara for his kindness and prayed to God to reward him more.
At least 414,000 people have been displaced and another 30 killed by the devastating flood in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital on Tuesday.

National Emergency Management Agency said the flood began after the Alau Dam overflowed following heavy rains leading to the town’s worst flooding in 30 years, according to the United Nations Human Rights Refugee Council and Maiduguri Metropolitan Council residents.

NEMA spokesman Manzo Ezekiel said that the death toll had hit 30 and displaced persons close to half a million as of Wednesday.
