Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia says he is not aware of any efforts by President Bola Tinubu to resolve the leadership crisis in the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Alia and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) George Akume are locked in a fierce battle for control of Benue APC.
The Benue State National Assembly Caucus had accused the governor of shunning the peace initiatives put in place by Tinubu to reconcile him with Akume over the fictionalization of the ruling party in the state.
But addressing a news conference in Makurdi yesterday, Alia, who spoke through Chief Press Secretary Tersoo Kula, said he did not receive any invitation from the President for any meeting aimed at settling his face-off with the SGF.
He said the House of Representatives member Philip Agbese, who addressed a news conference on behalf of the caucus, claiming that he shunned the meeting lacked the capacity to stand in between him and the President.
Kula said: “Agbese who recently pulled down the portrait of the governor in his office in Abuja went out to accuse the governor of shunning a peace meeting that was at the instance of the President.”
